Gloss toners work by depositing colour to refine the shade and seal the hair cuticle after it has already been lightened.

What are Glossy Gloss toners mixed with?

They are typically mixed with a low volume cream developer (5 volume as standard or 10 volume for grey blending) to activate the colour without lifting the hair further.

Should I use bleach with Glossy Gloss toners?

No. Mixing a gloss toner with bleach defeats its purpose. A gloss is meant to be a gentle, nourishing treatment, whereas bleach is a harsh, lifting agent. Using them together can cause over-processing, damage and rapid fading.

Demi-permanent Glossy Gloss toners are designed to be used after bleaching to tone, neutralise brassiness, and add shine without further lightening or damaging hair.

Are these colours acidic?

No, they are alkaline.

Is the range vegan and cruelty free?

Yes, the Glossy Gloss range is 100% vegan and cruelty free.

Are Glossy Gloss toners progressive?

No, the colour will not darken further if left on the hair for longer.

Can I apply Glossy Gloss toners after a permanent OSMO IKON colour service?

If the permanent colour needs to be corrected (e.g. if the colour is too brassy and needs to be cooled down), then yes, you can.

Can I apply Glossy Gloss toners on top of OSMO Colour Revive colours?

No, this would not be recommended. As the toners are oxidative, applying over direct dyes could cause undesirable results, and the end colors will fade at different rates.

Will Glossy Gloss toners cover greys?

They will blend greys when mixed with 5 or 10 volume developer. For more permanent grey coverage, using OSMO IKON permanent colour is recommended.

Can I mix Glossy Gloss toner shades together to create a different tone?

Yes, all shades are fully intermixable.

Can I mix Glossy Gloss toners at 1:2 ratio instead of the recommended 1:1 ratio?

This wouldn’t be recommended as it will impact the colour result and application consistency. If colour needs to be diluted, it is recommended to add in some of the Clear. For example, 40g 5.0 + 10g Clear + 50g of chosen peroxide.

Can I use a different developer with Glossy Gloss toners?

Yes, however these toners were designed to work alongside OSMO IKON cream developers. These will deliver optimum results.

Do I need to shampoo out the gloss toners?

Yes, as per OSMO’s permanent colouring systems, the colour will need to be thoroughly washed out with shampoo once processed.
